January 14, 2012 – Hour 2

title

In the second hour Adam welcomes Rabbi Lerner.

Adam’s guest is Rabbi Michael Lerner who has some controversial ideas about how to achieve peace between Israel and Palestine. Rabbi Michael Lerner is the founding editor or Tikkun magazine. Rabbi Michael Lerner, also leads Beyt Tikkun, a Jewish Renewal synagogue in the San Francisco Bay Area. By bringing together progressive Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Wiccan, and agnostic/atheist voices to talk about social transformation, political change, and the evolution of our religious traditions, Tikkun creates space for the emergence of a Religious Left to counter the power of the Religious Right. He is also the author of Embracing Israel/Palestine: A Strategy to Heal and Transform the Middle East. In this inspirational book, Rabbi Michael Lerner suggests that a change in consciousness is crucial. With clarity and honesty, he examines how the mutual demonization and discounting of each sides’ legitimate needs drive the debate, and he points to new ways of thinking that can lead to a solution.

"I see a big difference between anger and rage.
Rage is a very dangerous and disfiguring thing because it always has the same goal -- to destroy. Anger, on the other hand, is a normal human emotion that, when channeled properly, can change the world."
